It is already May, and I really need to get my Mom's Mothers' Day card made, compose my inside verse, finish the inside card design, and get it into the mail ASAP in order for it to arrive on time. After reviewing various Splitcoaststamper challenge possibilities, I decided to finish one of my card class designs (original by Luci Kirschbaum) that I remembered was lurking in my "To Do Stash," but there were some changes I wanted to make that occurred to me while in class. I wanted to jazz it up a bit and make it more me by adding layers, making it larger, and change the sentiment and its presentation.
I added layers below the card front with a Poppy Parade cardbase and a White Iridescent Glimmer layer. I changed the label shape and sentiment theme from a simple fishtail flag to the Lovely Labels punch design, and I made my new sentiment Mothers' Day wording using two computer fonts I really liked. I have to say, I really like all my changes.
I composed an inside verse using the computer and added a two-layer corner punch design to the four corners of the verse cardstock. I coordinated these punch corners with the card front's beautiful tulip dsp and the iridescent glimmer paper. I'm just sure Mom will love her card!
In my research for possible Splitcoaststamper challenges that might work, I found 11 that could be use if I tweaked the design a bit here and there. They are listed below:
1) AOCC22 - All Occasions Card Challenge/ May 2022 - 5/1/22. A much needed Mother's Day card for my 97-year old Mom...made and delivered.
2) USEIT2022 - Use It Challenge/ May 2022 - 5/1/22. An ongoing/ annual challenge that requires you to use OLD/ DUSTY and long unused items and/or OLD/NEW items purchased, never used, and seemingly forgotten! OLD/NEW items: I bought Lovely Labels Pick A Punch in August 2020 and the Opal Gems in early 2021 and finally opened their packaging to use them.
3) ABC16P16 - Alphabet Challenge/ Petals - 3/2/22. I've used a pretty tulip patterned paper. Tulips have such lovely velvety and colorful "PETALS."
4) F4A625 - Free 4 All Challenge/ Hearts and/or Flowers - 2/11/22. My card is for Mothers' Day and is full of lovely tulip flowers.
5) WT839 - Ways to Use It Challenge/ Life is a Gift - 4/8/21. Challenge: include a gift on your card, which might be a stamped gift, a present on your card, or a gift pocket or bookmark, etc. I have incorporated a gift pocket on the inside on the back of the card front, which I used to insert a gift check for a little shopping spree for my Mom to celebrate Mothers' Day. I wish I could be there to go with her!
6) MMTPT663 - Teapot Challenge/ In the Pink - 4/6/21. Challenge: add a pretty dsp to your card design. The teapot recipient likes pink, flowers, butterflies, nature, gnomes, etc. My card incorporates a pretty tulip floral dsp in pinks, white, and shades of poppy. Since I'm so late to the party, I will use this card for my Mom for Mothers' Day.
7) MIX421 - Mix-ability Challenge/ My Favorite Place - 2/19/21. My card depicts a trip to the Netherlands to see the tulip fields in bloom. Mediums: Copic markers (enhancing inside corners with dsp colors), printer ink (sentiment and inside verse).
IC774 - Inspiration Challenge/ Fat Quarter Shop - 10/3/20. Challenge: find something on their website or Pinterest board that inspires your card. I found these two images on the Fat Quarter Shop website that were a great inspiration for choosing my companion paper patterns for my card: Vintage Tulips! and Lady Tulip Crimson Garden Dew!
9) WORD0820 - Fan Club Monthly Theme--August 2020/ Spots & Stripes! - 8/17/20. Meets THEME requirements: colors pink & red are two classic colors that go together, especially when thinking of Valentine's Day. My first letter elements for LINE are: L=Lovely Labels punch, layers; I=Iridescent White Glitter paper, ink (computer); N=neutral color (white); E=embellishment (opal gems, ribbon).
10) FS657 - Featured Stamper Challenge/ rlsnyder aka Rebecca - 9/3/19. Rebecca has a lovely gallery to browse. I found this beautiful tulip card, Tulips for You!, that reminded of my unfinished class card with a tulip theme. Since I needed a Mothers' Day card, and Mom love tulips, this was the perfect inspiration. My card features a beautiful tulip dsp...no watercoloring. It embellishes upon her tulip colors with shades of poppy reds, pinks, and white. I changed the layout and added more layering with iridescent white glitter paper and a Poppy Parade cardstock base. I changed up my sentiment label shape and the wording to definitely make it a Mothers' Day card.
11) CAS523 - Clean & Simple Challenge/ Three in a Row - 3/4/19. Challenge: include at least one multiple of three on your card. I've added three opal gems in a row.
Ingredients: Stampin' Up: Paper--Poppy Parade cs, Petal Pink cs, Flowering Fields dsp (2 patterns); Punch: Lovely Labels; Ribbon--3/8" White Taffeta; Gems--Opal Rounds. Recollections White Iridescent Glitter paper; EK Punch--Victorian Corner; Sentiment/ Verse--Chatterbox Creation. Size: 4-3/4 x 6 inches.

Beautiful ribbon/bow, which is perfectly placed. Love the pretty tulip dp and wonderful layout. I'm sure this was a real hit with your sweet mom on her special day, Carlene~
