Ralph is a lover: he loves the outdoors; he loves watching birds in his yard; he loves reading his bible everyday. And the Teapotters would love to help him celebrate his 94th birthday this week.
I can't help thinking about nature without visualizing green and I have a TON of this cs and coordinating dp. This dp is paper, which always challenges me: I crinkle it, I crease it, I tear it. So, this time I glued a piece of it onto green cs first and then die cut the birch. I like the texture the subtle dp adds to this die. Even though I used textured cs, it was blah. So, I whipped out that favorite Weathered ef and it made all the difference. In thinking about which bird to use, I googled State Bird of Ohio. I learned something new today. It's the cardinal (but then you already figured that out). Stamped, colored fussy cut then arranged the bird, foliage and sentiment. I glued two additional pieces of green cs on the back of the panel to pop it up a bit from the base.
Karen (aka k dunbrook) made this gorgeous card last Sunday featuring one of my favorite quotes. So I reprised the quote here typing it in Verdana font. Here's a link to Karen's fabulous card: FS795, Marvelous Nature by k dunbrook at Splitcoaststampers
94! Wow! I can barely manage 70. So, my hope is that Ralph feels acknowledged and celebrated by the many lovely cards and warm birthday wishes he will be receiving this week. And I hope you feel celebrated today too. TFL

I love that you learned the state bird of Ohio to personalize Ralph’s card for him. You always find the best ways of personalizing your cards. This one is absolutely gorgeous! I know I’ve read that the state bird of Ohio is the cardinal, because my kids have a book that has that information in it. Here’s what I do know about Ohio: everyone knows the state tree is the buckeye, but did you know the state flower is the red carnation in honor of William McKinley, because he liked to wear a red carnation on his jacket.

So gorgeous Debbie, in my fave colors. Ha, I am barely making 71, lol. This cardinal made me think of our dear friend Karen. She would have loved this card you made as do I. Love the texture of that e.f. I always enjoy getting enabled by your many goodies, lol. Ralph is sure to love this beautiful card!
