This is my sample for the Color Challenge hosted by Mary. Her lovely combination is: Real Red, Garden Green, Mango Melody with dessert option to use DSP.
I must admit that the metal dies have spoiled me; they are so fast and easy. This time I did something different albeit a little more time consuming and I created a layered poinsettia by hand (no dies). First I heat embossed two poinsettias in white on vellum cardstock. Then I fussy cut out one whole flower (middle layer), cut the center area from the second one (top layer) and trimmed the remainder of the second flower (bottom layer). The petals were colored on the backside with Real Red blends markers. The center was colored on the back and the top with a Mango Melody marker. The leaves were also white heat embossed, fussy cut and colored with a Garden Green marker on the backside. I used two DSP patterns.
I dug into my stash for a fun trim. The rick rack is from the 1950s which I inherited with my moms sewing & craft supplies. It is so soft and amazing. Super fun to use these terrific colors! It was challenging in a good way to try something different. Looking forward to seeing how you are inspired to create. TFL

Diane, that technique of heat embossing on vellum and coloring on the reverse side--how brilliant! And what a beautiful effect it creates! Love this card!

Two DP’s - two desserts. I luv that plaid and it looks so perfect with the tiny print on the green strip. Beautiful poinsettia and the red ric rac is the perfect finishing touch.

I've always loved the look of vellum colored on the back and heat embossed on the front, Diane, just like this poinsettia! I might just need to give this a try~

Gorgeous! The fussy cutting was tough for sure but worth the spectacular look on your plaid BG design. I still have rick rack, too. Looks fabulous...
