What wonderful challenges can be found this week on SCS, wouldn't you agree? It's swap with each other over on the TeaPotter challenge. MissBoo (Jen, our hostess) called for encouraging words and at least two compliment patterned papers of stamped background.
The MIX today, Bountiful Harvest is an adventure in using found mixed media materials to create. Check...make something from all the newspapers, catalogs, or empty containers stacking up on your counters...
and last, but certainly a large part of this card is Barbara's (bejoyce) Color Challenge CC863 to use Cherry Cobbler, So Saffron, and Terracotta Tile...I did use SU's first two colors, but had to make the third with a mix of dp and Chalkbox ink. Yummy Autumn hues this week, Barbara!
You'll have to dive right into the middle of my card to see what inspired this card! Of course, a comic freshly torn from my local newspaper. YES, in an age of online adaptations of posts, news, blogs, commentary, the Conrad household still subscribes to a REAL newspaper delivered to our porch every morn. Bizarro never fails to speak to me...
I had all the 'stuff' of the comic...wonderful vintage '50's Fashion paper women! Lovin' fussy cutting, it was a ball to free these fashionable women from the paper. I even snipped some paper tabs on some of them! These are in a marvelous book I received as a gift, so thoughtful. I used Memory Box scraps for the patterned papers. Embossing the Terracotta Tile'ish with a sewing theme from TH. The Cherry Cobbler strip was embossed and hand stitched with a twine and copper braid. I used the So Saffron as a base for the encouraging word 'Pattern of Friendship'. Lastly the background is a French Script repeated across the top in 'London Fog' Memento.
The comic strip woman doesn't look like she has too much confidence in her seamstress. I hope I've got her covered! Thanks for stopping by...I am sure the galleries are full of awesome takes on these prompts. We are so fortunate to be part of this creative community, wouldn't you say?

What a fun cartoon. I always wish I knew what had happened to my paper dolls with costumes through the centuries. But it also made me smile because that was the age I got my first sewing machine. Love all your patterns, including the sentiment.

LOL! I love everything about this! How fun that you were inspired by this comic and created such an amazing card around it that hit three different challenges. Love Love love! I was just thinking about paper dolls earlier this morning and how much fun they were!

Not only was I the incredibly lucky recipient of this heartfelt and amazing work of art, it was handed to me personally by the fabulous artist herself! This detailed beauty is proudly displayed in my sewing room, next to my mother's picture. She was a fabulous seamstress and I remember her wearing styles like these, and the hours we spent looking through pattern books together at Kaufman's. Thank you, dear neighbor!
