I first lightly washed the 140# cold pressed Arches watercolor paper with a very light pink...even leaving some white areas of the paper near the top and bottom. By using darker and darker shades and colors, I started to create the various flower shapes. Unlike Dina's project, I chose not to use a stamp. This technique which I personally call "back painting" is great for freehand watercoloring...just a takes a little "backwards" thinking. When I do what I call a "pure" watercolor, I usually don't like stamping a sentiment on the face of it.
