I made this card for 2 challenges today. The first challenge is the Free For All Challenge. Dawn is our hostess and she has a wonderful challenge called, "Back to Square One." I love this and just had to play.
The 2nd challenge is for this week's Alphabet challenge. Ann is our hostess and she has chosen the letter H for this week. The H in this card is the hydrangea image.
I colored the image with colored pencils which is a really big deal because I am a copic marker girl and not a colored pencil girl. However, I do want to use colored pencils more so this was the project for it. I have a lot to learn using colored pencils because I much prefer the way Liz colored her image over the way I colored mine.
I cut the image into squares and mounted the individual squares onto black cardstock. Well, I mounted them crooked even though I laid them out perfectly (sigh). I had to think about this for a while, and I asked Liz about it too. Liz had a great suggestion to cut the mounted-on-black squares again into 4 larger squares and that helped a lot because I was ready to trash this. I Layered the card up and added Nuvo crystal gems for some fun sparkle on a dreary day.
Thank you Dawn and Ann for the great challenges and thanks for looking! ~Karen.

This is beautiful Karen, I remember last VSN we played in Ann's challenge with inchies and tiles, the colors are very pretty and love how you've separated the squares!!

Gorgeous card! Love the design. I want to learn how to color with pencils, too. I got them for Christmas and have used them once. You did a great job with the coloring. I'm glad you didn't give up on this card.

Love these amazing purple hydrangeas peeking through your window panes!! What remarkable work on this beautiful creation, Karen!! I once visited Washington state where I saw huge bushes of hydrangeas growing up against the houses. This must have been the view from inside! Hydrangeas don't do so well here in Texas!
