Dug out an old stamp. Stamped and masked it, then did the bg with a brayer. Removed the mask and watercolored the image. Scratched with an X-acto blade to create some glisten spots on the water.

Indeed, how DO you think of these things?! I will tuck that tip with the Xacto away for future use! This water like is such a stunner and the colors are beautiful. Makes me think of childhood days at a lake cabin where we used to row out among the water lilies.

I LOVE water lilies Sallie, and this one is stupendous! The dragonfly hovering nearby is perfect and so are the sections you scratched because they truly do look like glistening water. I love that! ~Karen.

I looked at this on the way home from work. How clever to scratch the paper to add the water effect - and such wonderful shading from top to bottom. Makes me think of the Botanic Gardens, I always like going to the lily ponds and looking for dragonflies. At least stamped lilies aren't covered with all sorts of little unphotogenic bugs.

This is so pretty, Sallie. I find larger images much harder to color, but you don't seem to have any difficulty. : ) I wouldn't mind having some of these lillies in my pond.

What a great looking image and, Sallie, you water colored it so beautifully!! Don't know if the dragonfly has a shadow or you added it but it surely adds to the depth. I like your tip about using an exacto knife to add sparkle to the water.
