For this Teapot Tickle we were asked to make a card featuring our favourite story book or characters.
My favourite childhood book was Heidi - but Snuggle Pot and Cuddle Pie came in a close second. There was also another book that I loved - I think it was an Enid Blyton book called "The Magic Faraway Tree". Not sure if that was the right name - as it was read to us each afternoon when I was at school - when we were supposed to be having a rest (or more like peace and quiet for the teacher). She never finished it - and I was so upset that I didn't get to the end of the story. Anyway - one day I will find it in a bookshop and get to read it all the way through - in my second childhood - he he.
Anyway I didn't have any stamps or anything that I could use to recreate Heidi - so I got out my Gumnut stamps.
I made a water coloured background and embossed it with a Paper Rose embossing folder. I then stamped the Gumnut babies, fussy cut them out. Die cut some gum leaves and coloured them in and added sparkle for the flowers. The frame is die cut and the little scene completed. In real life the little Gumnuts are not quiet as pale as they look here - they have a bit more of a suntan and rosy cheeks.
As a result of Snuggle Pot and Cuddle Pie - I still cannot walk past a banksia tree with out looking to see if I can see "the big Bad Banksia Man".
Hope you enjoy.

Wonderful card, Helen! We know Snuggle pot and Cuddle pie through an Australian friend of my mother. For my first son’s birth she sent the book. I must say I was well read. Sam will turn 30 on Monday! Let’s all sing it’s a small world after all and hold cyber hands.

Brilliant and vivid colors for your fairy tale card. Love your framed and colored images and their embossed background. I had not heard of Snuggle Pot and Cuddle Pie , bit after "Googling" it...a series of fairy tale books by Australian author, May Gibbs. Your little images are a perfect depiction of these Eucalypti flower and nut little guys!
