Festival Day has dawned in Whykickamoocow - but all is not as it should be. You can tell from the looks on Bridie and Bindi Bird's faces that these are not the prize winning dahlias they were hoping to enter in the flower show.
Overnight there was been a "weather event". Now Whykickamoocow is in the back of beyond - yes beyond the black stump. Very little rain falls there. But overnight an EAST COAST LOW developed off the east coast bringing with it torrential rain and storms. More rain than they know what to do with out there now. Somehow these exotic blooms appeared in the garden overnight thanks to all the lovely rain. The dahlias are a write off but the exotics are blooming in all their glory.
Wonder if there is a category for exotics at the Whykickamoocow Festival - if there is Bridie and Bindi will be taking out first prize.
For this card I stamped the images and coloured them all and then highlighted them with glitter gel pens for some added sparkle. The stamps are all Darkroom Door stamps - I must get them out more often! I fussy cut the flowers and birds and then layered them up onto a watercolour background made using paints.
Wouldn't you just like to all meet up at Whykickamoocow?
Hope you enjoy.

There should be exotics at the Whykickamoocow Festival - because Bridie and Bindi should be taking out first prize. This is a gorgeous card and great colors too.

Wonderful story. Love the watercolored background and the sweet stamps -- those birds really do look a bit surprised, don't they? (yes, would love to meet up with everyone at the Whykickamoocow festival!)

I am so happy to see this charming card in the gallery, Helen. Those birds are indeed adorable and must see ink on a regular basis! And that bunch of tropical flowers...I would love, love to have them in my living room...isn't that the fun of waiting for your tickle to arrive in the mail?!
