This is for Carla's WTUI challenge this week - she has a fun theme for us. You'll find it HERE
I've gone for the bonus points on this one, which was made as a commission from a guy in work - he just wanted the names and happy 25th anniversary on the front and a safari or African theme, and left the rest up to me.
So, I knew I'd have to computer-generate the sentiments, and I thought a plane trailing a banner would get the names in. I used WordArt to add a curve and then free-handed the cutting. Covered it with microglaze and then added a tiny eyelet to thread the silver cord through.
The anniversary banner took a lot more time, but the stamps I had with dates and numbers just weren't in the right style - and I couldn't use the Wild Africa font I downloaded because it turned out not to include numbers. Again I used WordArt to add the curve, and then I stamped a banner stamp at each end (with masking) and drew in the rest of the curved line. Added a coating of microglaze and grunged it up a little, then edged it with silver Stickles.
The plane was stamped on vellum and fussy cut. I cut as much out as I cut, and where there was still a little vellum left around the struts, I coloured it with a yellow Sharpie so it blends more into the background. It's coloured from the back with Sharpies and a little more red pencil on the front. The prop was stamped again and popped up, with a shaped punched circle as the nose cone.
IO's Leopard stamped in black and sponged with distress inks gave me a good background, and I die-cut the heart aperture and outlined it with a silver pen.
Stamped and masked the elephant. Sponged in the sky and foreground. Added some foliage over to the left with a couple of green DOX inks. Added the stars with Delicata silver.
To assemble, I layered the elephant scene behind the heart aperture and added some cream stitching. Stuck it to a kraft base, and then added the plane and banners all popped up on foam, and with the silver cord from the banner tucked behind the tail of the plane.

What an incredible art piece, Sabrina! All the detail is so well thought out, with the leopard pattern background, the heart and the starry sky over the elephant, along with the beautiful banners and vellum airplane. So gorgeous!

Even though the recipients of this card will never know how hard you worked to achieve the perfect banners on this card Sabrina, they will treasure this card for a very long time because of how personal it is- and so unique too! I adore the vintage carnival/circus feel this card has with this wonderful vintage airplane and the elephant. The leopard print bg and your wonderful machine stitching really showcase this fabulous image panel with glorious starry night! This card is a real treasure and will be treasured for a very long time. ~Karen.

This elephant stamp is one of my all time favorite stamp sets from HFC. I was just thinking of making another card with it the other day because it has been a while since I used it. Totally fun airplane and nicely popped up on the card.
