What a fun site for our Inspiration Challenge today - A Beautiful Mess. I was a bit overwhelmed about where to look for inspiration - but came upon this Cactus Pom Pom Sweatshirt - and it inspired me to get out one of my cactus dies that I've had for ages and have never used yet!
You are supposed to cut two of this cactus and slip them together to make it 3D but I just cut one - and it has little die cut leaf/flower bits that you poke out (see them?).
I added melted red Perla beads for the flowers.
I colored both the background and the cactus by rubbing Distress Inks on my craft mat, spritzing with water and pouncing the watercolor paper into the colors - one at a time and drying between colors.
I used this sentiment from Neat & Tangled as I am sending this to my son's girl friend who was unexpectedly laid off from her job last week after her company merged with another one and I wanted to support her. She IS awesome and a go-getter - and I know she will be back in the workforce quickly - but in the meantime I hope she can enjoy a little summer time off.
Accessories: Succulents Die - Sizzix, Direct Messages Banner Die and Noted: Pinked A2 dies - PTI, craft mat, water mister, red Perla Bead dots (melted), foam dots, Tombow glue
Awww! What a wonderfully sweet card for your son's girlfriend! This cactus is sooo cute! I love the little cutouts in the cactus. The dots look good enough to eat! They really do look like candy, yum!

I love how you got that 3-D look on the needles on that fabulous cactus of yours. Such a fun card and love those shades of green!

GREAT take on your inspiration!! Love the colors of that water-speckled cactus and your melted Perla beads for flowers...clever! Cactus prickles are cleverly popped out and love that pinked mat edging!
