I bought this Sizzix Step Die for 50% off. A step card is easy enough to create but I will make a different fold card more often if I simply have a die to do it for me! Plus it's kind of fun to have the rounded edge on the step layer!
I love that both the CAS challenge and the Color challenge can be combined for a fun patriotic card. I rarely make 4th of July cards but this year I have a great sentiment set so I have been having fun coming up with different ideas for patriotic cards!
I stamped the fireworks from the Red White and Blue stamp set by The Project Bin on the left panel and adhered the Stitched Star grid on the step panel. After stamping the sentiment from the set I washed my hands (Lately I can't seem to make a card without smudging ink on them) and apparently I didn't have my hands completely dry. A splatter hit the left panel so I wiped it and in the process rubbed a bit of paper away. :( I decided I just wasn't going to give the card away. My first thought was to add gems in the center of the fireworks but then I noticed I had some stars remaining and thought they might be fun as firework centers. Then I had an "aha" moment! A star fit over the top of the rubbed paper-water splatter perfectly hiding it! I think I will send this off after all!
TFL!

Oh my, I can so identify with your dillema! I am such a messy crafter, there have been many a hidden goof on my cards. So I applaud your clever cover up and save of this lovely card for the 4th! So glad you chose to play along!

Smart thinking on buying this die. It makes a wonderful design. It's a perfect display board of sorts - works great for your theme. I love your stamping and the stitched dies. So glad you were able to come up with a solution. Gotta love it when a plan comes together!!
