Mary is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has asked us to make a card using Sahara Sand, Tangerine Tango and Dapper Denim. The dessert option is to also include Soft Suede on your project.
I recently received this gorgeous 3-D embossing folder and have seen several examples of ways to use it, including inking it up. I decided to give it a try, using Sahara Sand cardstock and Soft Suede ink. First attempt was a dismal failure. I lightly sprayed the cardstock with water, wanting to prevent the cardstock from cracking. All that did was cause the ink to bleed and run all over. Yikes! Next attempt (after washing and drying the folder) was to follow the same procedure without spraying. I wish you could see all the 3-D dimension on this 2-D photo. I think it's absolutely beautiful.
I wanted to decorate the card while keeping the embossed layer the star of the show. I cut a small tag from Sahara Sand cardstock and sponged the edged with Soft Suede ink. I used my flowers dies to create a two-toned flower with the other two challenge colors, and sponged them as well. I considered not using a greeting, but decided the little "hello" banner was just what the card needed.
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!
