This is for Carla's fun Ways to Use It challenge - Cut it Out....fussy cutting.
Fussy cutting is my all time favourite technique. Before I comfortable with colouring, I paper pieced everything, so I had to learn to love cutting!! I also love doing weirdo arty sort of backgrounds, which is ideal for putting fussy cut images on at a later date.
Ruby in her red dress is just printed onto copy paper, which is super easy to cut with scissors. When I am fussy cutting cardstock, I often use scissors and a scalpel.
I find the easiest way to cut out an image is to move the paper NOT the scissors. As I am right handed, I always cut in an anti-clockwise direction, so that the edge of the stamped image is not obscured by the scissor blades.
After cutting, rub a sponge dauber around the cut edge of the image in the same colour as the stamped outline, this disguises any little white bits. If the area is too tight for a dauber, use the brush end of a Copic marker and run around the edge of the image with the image facing away from you. That way is you slip, you will just draw on the back of the image.
Because Ruby looks a bit worse for wear, I altered the checkerboard floor a little bit. There is a terrific tutorial here by Irene for the proper checkerboard floor. Checkerboard Flooring Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers
Thank you for looking and happy fussy cutting!

LOL, I think one might be enough to floor me...despite my job I have a low tolerance for alcohol. Love her earrings! Brilliant cutting (I knew you'd be good at that) and super work tiling the floor.

Love this cute card, and especially those pearl buttons up her dress. Thanks too for the tips with the sponging of the edges. I learn something new every day.

I can just hear her "THUD". If that were me, and there is a little resemblance, I would've broken a tailbone! But enough about me, other than I give you another standing ovation next to square #1 on the right.

ROTFL...I'm still there (shame on you...can't do floors since by knee replacement...maybe I'll be here all night!) I love it! I notice she's got on 1940's era bra with the pointies and 1970's go-go boots! Wonder if she was drinking while she dressed! You've achieved the ultimate checkerboard floor...fabulous job!
