This card is for this months Fan Club October theme - Creepy Crawly.
At first glance this image looks quite normal...take a closer look and you will see a near-dead bird in her hair...how creepy is that!
The image is just printed on normal copy paper. I couloured her with Prismacolour pencils and Zest-It pencil blend. Highlights were added using Copic markers. I am not precious about my Copics, but if you are it's probably best to clean off your marker on a scrap of paper before putting it away.
On an image like this, I colour the most difficult things first - eyes, then face, then lips. If all that works I continue on my merry way.
After I finished colouring, I carefully tore around the edges and then adhered her to a rejected mixed media background using a glue stick.
When I was applying double sided tape to the completed panel, I somehow stained her face. This is where my card got seriously creepy. The only thing to do was to amputate her face. I ever so carefully used a scalpel to cut around her face and then scrapped it off.
I've attached a little insert so you can see where I cut into her. Because this is just copy paper, and it was stuck on a gesso base, it was easy to cut out and peel off. I quickly printed a new face, coloured it then stuck it in place.

I'm amazed again at your talent. Another beautiful work of art! Wowza! I'm glad you included the creepiest image in your inset with the face "lift". Totally cracked me up!

WOW! Sis, this is amazing and gorgeous...well, except for that creepy near-dead bird! LOL! I would not have noticed it had you not said anything because the eyes, her face, and amazing hair always catch my eyes! Beautifully done even with all the "oopsies" that you were up against! As always, you prevail! I love it! Love you to bits! xoxo

Dr. Susie, your brilliant talent of coloring and now surgical prowess is another notch you add to your resume of This Girl Does It All! Me thinks you should create videos and post in the tutorial section!
This takes the game of “Operation” to a whole new level!!

Oh, precious Susie!!! What a piece of art!!! It is outstanding, and I would have never seen the bird on her head if you haven't pointed it out. I also would have never noticed her face was cut out and replaced!! The liquid pearls look fantastic as does the coloring!! You are just a top-notch artist, my friend!! I must say, though, I think the insert is the best for "creepy"! LOL

What a stunningly beautiful card this is Susie! Wowsers! I am still trying to take this all in. I am super impressed how you "saved" this card by carefully cutting her face out and adding in a new one. I am not sure I would have thought to do that. Your coloring skills are beyond incredible my friend, and your use of liquid pearls is extremely inspiring- and gorgeous! This is going right into my favs! ~Karen.
