| | I made this nautical card for the letter N alphabet challenge. The double challenge was to make a card that was "not feminine." I wanted to use some "free" stamps I just got in a magazine I picked up, and so I stamped this sailor/pirate image and colored him in with copic markers. I masked him off in order to put the water behind the sailor. I also very lightly sponged in a cloudy sky using a SU Scalloped circle punch. I took a woodgrain stamp and stamped an entire sheet using Kraft cardstock, then cut the porthole from this stamped sheet, and fussy cut out the porthole because my circle dies did not match up with the porthole size. Using a circle die I die cut the image and a piece of acetate and attached everything to the porthole using small brads. Then I was stuck on how to make a card. I went a few days and nothing I tried worked for me. I showed what I had done to my husband and he said in his very best pirate's voice, "well ahoy there matey" so I rolled with that. I wanted to do a true treasure map, but I simply do not have the small stamps required to make a treasure map so I just took a red marker and dotted lines all over the map once I had stamped and sponged it. This is a large 6x8 card so it took quite a long time to stamp and sponge the background. Ugh! The letters were cut on the cricut and sponged with TH red ink. The banner was cut by hand and stamped with alpabet letter stamps for the word matey. I am mailing this card to Al who is a double amputee. Thanks for looking! ~Karen. |
