My card for this week's teapot Tuesday challenge, to feature something to do with quilts and to share a memory. When my mother emigrated from the Netherlands, she brought with her an item that I really don't know how to translate into English. It was a wonderfully carved wooden head board, with a small top shelf for hats, and coat hangers in front. Below the hangers was a beautifully quilted backdrop. It was made with diamond shapes in bright colours and a pattern was created with black velveteen diamonds. My mom had made the quilt and my dad had carved the wooden top. It travelled with them from the Netherlands to Alberta, and from there to Ontario. I'm sorry that I didn't claim it when mom passed away, as it brings back many sweet memories.
I bought the Christmas quilt stamp set at a gathering for $3. The black cs was heat embossed with clear ep, just so that the stitching could be seen. All the diamonds were fussy cut and arranged together on a circle paper. This star was mounted on dimensionals, as also the sentiment.I added a sheer ribbon bow and a tiny sewing machine charm.
