I didn't really have any picnic stamps in my stash (certainly not a basket like some of you)...so I created a little scene where a picnic could take place. I drew my own basket and cut out a tablecloth (gingham of course) and added our favorite picnic pest...a few ants! The card actually started with this Laura Ingalls Wilder quote....I think picnics are one of life's simple yet memorable moments. It's funny that this challenge came about today...I'm actually going on a picnic tomorrow with my sister and her grandsons. We're going to a park out in the country near the town I grew up in (20 miles from here) . It's on a farm (but the farmer donated that area to the county for this park) and it's on top of some bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River. It's got trails to hike and a picnic area. I can't wait to go. Most of my picnics growing up were at the beach. My mom would pack peanut butter sandwiches, chips, and Twinkies (guess we weren't into healthy back then..it was a treat after all)! That's probably the only time we got Twinkies...Oh ya...my sister is bringing them tomorrow ;)

What a sweet little scene, Polly. I don't recognise the quote and I should, since I've read all her books I don't know how many times!! Love your little basket and gingham tablecloth. And the little gingham birds are just "tweet". I hope you had a wonderful picnic.

Oh Polly, this terrific card arrived today, I love it to bits my friend. I remember commenting on your card and saying I didn't want your story to end....well after reading what you wrote in the card, I didn't want that to end either. Thank you so much Polly, you spoilt me with all the goodies too.
