The pictures that Sabrina posted reminded me how much I always wanted a dollhouse when I was little. I never got one:( OK...the happy part of this story is that...I had a big dollhouse right in my yard! Yes, my dad and a neighbor built a small house in our yard that was painted just like our big house. It was one room and had a small table and 2 chairs, a play stove and sink, and a tiny china cabinet painted pink! The cabinet had little glass windows on top and was made by the same neighbor who helped build the house. It was originally built for my older sister (I hadn't been born) but when I came along we both played in it. There were times when we had sleepovers...three people were the most we could do..and the furniture had to spend the night on the little porch! And in the winter much to the despairing eye of my mother we jumped off the roof into large piles of snow. We were helped in that effort by the wood pile right next to the dollhouse ;) I have a picture of the inside which I'll post to the thread..not sure how to post a photo here. See photo in this thread
My card features a vintage image of little girls playing with their dolls and the prized dollhouse in the background. I chose to only color the girls so they'd show off more. And the boys and girl on the side are copies of Kate Greenaway drawings from some pages sent to me by Sabrina. She knew I would use these sometime on a card...and today was the day. Sabrina I think both you and I are romantics..we love stuff like Kate Greenaway and old toys. Thanks for the challenge (and the wonderful old book pages)!

What can I say that hasn't already been said?! This is just a beautiful vintage card. Love that you used those KG drawings to frame the focal image, it really adds depth. Fab card!
And loved your dollhouse story...

Polly, your card is adorable. Your sweetly colored image is perfect and the cut out children surrounding them add so much character to the page. Love your story and the picture!

Wonderful, dreamy vintage image. Just perfectly backed with the alphabet background. Great childhood memories too - kids now just don't know what fun they are missing out on in this technology age.

How fun that must have been. Even having a lovely t-party you were. My cousins had a little house like that and I remember a couple years ago this one place we were landscaping the grampa was making a big dollhouse for his granddaughter ( which was neat too as they lived across the street ) and it was perfectly identical to their own house, down to the style, painting, shutters trims was so neat. Perfect way to use the papers. I think it was a super idea to color the younguns and not the rest. LOVE it...TFS..:0)
