This is for Robin's terrific Free for All challenge. Check it out here .
Sapphire blue background and an emerald dress (ok, emeraldish, I really did use an emerald green gelato.)
The sapphire background was made using blue Izinks directly onto a cardstock panel - 3 drops of ink then squirt on a lot of water; tilt the panel to move the colour around. I then did the same with green Izink. By this stage a lot of blue and green inky water had pooled on the al foil sheet I was using instead of a craft mat. Dunk the panel into the puddle and swish around.
Izinks have a beautiful pearly sheen, but sometimes they lack depth of colour. Distress inks are brilliant sponged over the top of the Izink; you still get the fabulous pearly sheen along with plenty of oomph!! I scrubbed salty ocean and purple dusty concord distress ink onto the card. Next step was to stencil on the modeling paste. I hit it with a blast from my heat gun....got carried away and it sort of melted the paste.
Using my finger tips, I applied lots of colours to the modeling paste. To disguise the melted bits I stamped over it with a 'crackle' stamp, also did this randomly on the blue area. At this point I sponged Walnut Stain distress ink all around the edges - it made the blue turn a terrific green in places. I used a baby wipe to remove some colour, this gives the illusion of a glow.
The long underwater plants were made by free hand drawing lines with a micron pen, draw tiny circles and fill in the circles with a white gel pen, and then touched up with a silver sharpie pen. The water drops in top left corner were done the same way (micron pen and white gel pen).
Using my MISTI stamping tool, I stamped the Unity fairy. I left the rubber stamp in place in the MISTI as I wanted to restamp her in black ink again after I coloured her. She was coloured with Gelatos, Inktense pencils and an aqua brush.
Fussy cut, ink around the edge with black soot distress ink and a dauber (apply from the back in case you slip). You will be amazed how this makes any fussy cutting look good.
I wrapped some silver thread around her waist, then adhered her to the card. Ink around edges of cardbase before adding the coloured panel. Thank you for looking and I hope you join in the fun.

I always find myself just studying and studying your work for all the gorgeous detail. The depth of color you've achieved is fantastic, I love the modeling paste corner, the fairy is amazing - all in all a totally mesmerizing piece! It also is wonderful the way you share your process - so fun to read about what a "real" artist does!
