I actually planned this card out. Usually I just start doing stuff and a card turns up, but as soon as I saw this month's dirty girls theme of BFF, I thought of this image and my BFF for 38 years, Andy. She was my bridesmaid who knew that diet Coke and diet Pepsi are not the same thing, and showed up with a cooler of diet Pepsi before my wedding. We have been there for each other through the good, the bad, and the ugly. This week's color challenge colors were perfect... so bright and cheerful - real red, coastal cabana, and daffodil delight. Sabrina's terrific WT challenge was the ideal addition... nothing says fun like colorful circles. I used my circle stencil and colored the circles with the same copic colors that I used on the girls. Finally, the MIX challenge to pop up parts of the card worked out great. The card is much more 3d IRL. I made several color copies on cardstock after coloring the image. I fussy cut the layers. The girls legs and shoes are the origional flat image. The girls in their dresses are 3 layers high, and the umbrella is 6 layers. I used grey copics to add shading around the girls and umbrella. The inside is stamped with the sentiment " What if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about". Andy just retired from a top level aerospace job where she met with 5 star generals. Last year she had to cancel a lunch date at the last minute because the multi million dollar satelight that she was responsible for launching was floating somewhere in space and the batteries were failing. It was OK that she had to cancel, because I was dealing with an emergency of my own - Dolly the insomniac dog had accidently pooped in the back seat of my car, and not only was there poop on the seat, but she also managed to include my purse. The sentiment is to remind my friend not to take life too seriously now that she is retired. I have a feeling we will all get to heaven one day and everyone will be doing the hokey pokey. How much fun is this! I love all the coloured circles in combination with that pretty umbrella. (I LOVE umbrellas - it's often too windy to use them here so I normally just put my hood up, but there is an amazing umbrella shop in Paris and every time we are there I take at least one trip to look in the window. I've even bought a couple - well, DH has as gifts). What a lovely write-up to go with your sweet card.
