This is for Anna's fun mixed media challenge "Pick a Colour, Any Colour".
The background was done using several techniques. I started with a long piece of aluminium foil and an A4 sheet of smooth white cardstock. Using Broken China, Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean distress inks, I did the wrinkle free technique until all the ink had had been used. At this point I cut the A4 card into 3 long pieces then I did the Smack & Squirt technique with the same colours again.
Smack the first colour on the al foil, squirt on a LOT of water then mop up the inky water with a foam blending tool and gently swish over the card. There was still plenty of ink left so I scrubbed it into the second strip of cardstock. I repeated smacking and squirting the other two colours.
In the spirit of mixed media I used Izink on each piece. Using the same sheet of al foil I put 3 drops of Izink on the foil, followed by a good squirt of water (on the foil AND the cardstock), I swished the first piece of cardstock around this inky-painty puddle, it was very wet so I took the second piece of cardstock and kissed the two pieces together - this made a great pattern on both pieces. Because I am really scungy when it comes to ink, I took the third piece of cardstock from the original A4 sheet which had only been wrinkle freed, sprayed a bucket load of water on the card and the foil, then dragged it through the remaining colour.
Izink dries with a beautiful pearly sheen, I have found it works best as a "top coat" over a matching coloured ink or paint. I am impatient so I dried the cards with a heatgun.
Using the third piece of cardstock, I stamped 3 PaperArtsy feathers with StazOn Blue Hawaii ink, fussy cut and inked edges with Faded Jeans distress ink. I stamped the Unity Stamps dream catcher straight onto the card and also on to a scrap to make an additional centre piece and little feathers. The centre circle is mounted with 3D foam, I then glued the feathers in place then sponged some Faded Jeans distress ink around the border before adhering to white card base.
I had a heap of fun making this. Thank you for looking and have a great weekend!!
