Our cards are going to Joyce, a lead swap moderator here at SCS. Joyce unexpectedly lost her younger sister very recently. I hope our cards bring some light to Joyces day and let her know she is in our thoughts.
Sheri has started the new year with a fun challenge. Unfortunately there is nothing "Downton Abbey" or ATC about this, but it is mixed media, which Joyce loves. I learnt of Joyce's loss the other day and had already mailed this card. Thankfully I took a photo.
I kind of CASEd myself, this was made from my huge stash of mixed media offcuts. To make this a bit different from earlier cards using scraps, I used a micron pen and did some rustic looking criss crosses. I was going to have the stips horizontal, however the little light patches looked like bird droppings (not the look I was going for), so I made the strips vertical and now it looks like a light behind him. The stamped sentiment is as black as the bird but looks grey in the photo???
This gorgeous bird on a branch is an IO die designed by SCS's very own Dini. Not only is it a beatiful die, it cuts like butter. The negative of this die is perfect for stencilling too.
You will be pleased to know that I haven't broken anything this week even though I have been flat out like a one armed wallpaper hanger. I usually do everything at a million miles an hour, that is when disaster usually strikes LOL. I had planned on putting the Christmas tree away tomorrow, but it is going to be 95F (35C), so the tree can wait another day......so can the vaccuming.
Have a great week ladies and thank you for looking.

Susie this is fantastic! It looks like a beautiful stained glass window behind your fantastic bird. It does look like you stitched these squares on and had I not read the description I would have not known you drew these on. They are fantastic.

I have always loved the look of patchwork. With your beautiful backgrounds, this is fantastic! Your doodles resemble real stitching too! It makes such a brilliant backdrop for your lovely silhouette, Susie! Makes me want to start chopping mine up too. Love this idea!

Bless your heart - I am still formulating a card to send Joyce - this one is stunning - love that background and your faux stitching - those colors look great in the BG and the idea of using the strips was genius!! I feel a little enabled - AGAIN - with that bird on the branch die!!

You have used such pretty off cuts in this card. The addition of the little "embroidery" stiches add so much character to the background. The silhouetted bird in black really stands out so nicely. Take care with the Christmas Tree and always stay clear of vacuums!! he he

You have mended your disastrous ways since last we met. Where is my partner in crime who burns, glues, and hurts herself and others. This is spectacular Susie, the background looks as though it glows, like a stained glass window.
