After watching the great monoprinting tutorial by Julie Warner, I was inspired to attempt this challenge. My brayer has gone to live in that big craft room in the sky, so I had to improvise. I got a sausage out of the freezer and wrapped cling wrap around itÂ….worked a treat.
Using the sausage, I spread Momento ink over a big plastic bag. In the tutorial Julie used a “combing tool” to make an effective pattern, hmmm need to improvise again so I went outside and picked a lemon that had lots of dints and rough skin. I randomly pressed the lemon onto the ink covered plastic and then pressed white cardstock onto the plastic bag.
I then repeated the process with several distress inks. To make it mixed media, I spritzed it with Dylusions ink spray and then did a bit of stenciling. The silvery looking pattern is actually white Brilliance ink, I pressed the ink pad directly on to the lemon then randomly stamped the lemon onto the paper.
The tree stamp didnÂ’t stand out much so I went over all of it with a black Aqualip pen. The little girls were cut from an old sheet of pre-coloured images (brand unknown). It is my nieces 30th birthday today, so I hand wrote the words and propped the words and little girls up with foam tape.
Thank you for lookingÂ…..I am off to clean up, this may take a while. Saying mixed media isnÂ’t messy is a bit like saying you can go to a craft show and not buy anything LOL.

Great card! You deserve the most unique stamper award...you know really know how to think outside the box, and come up with the neatest cards...and I know what you mean about the messy part...smile...and also going to a stamp show and NOT buying anything...Impossible...You should see all the loot I wasn't going to buy at the stamp show this weekend...and somehow it called my name at the stamp show.
