Stacy(Twinshappy) asked me to create a sample for this month’s SCSCC using the theme of a holiday song. I blanched when she gave me the song, ”Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer”. (I’m of an age who likes “Silent Night”, “O Holy Night”, “12 Days of Christmas”, etc.)
This has to be my most UNfavorite holiday song…..for its premise, grammar, on and on. But a commitment is a commitment and a challenge is a challenge. I decided to stick with the parameters of the song, rather than doing a stately buck in a snowy field with a pine tree or two. I have no “drunken grandma” stamps and wouldn’t buy one if I saw one…so out with markers and pen. Using my rudimentary drawing skills, I sketched most of the card….except the reindeer’s hind quarters. I’m not good at drawing faces, so Grandma has hoof prints on her back instead of her forehead. : )
I also wanted to include the QFTD challenge since Stacy is the chosen queen for this week. My card is more an homage to this CARD of hers to show where the dear reindeer ended up.

Your free hand drawing skills are darn good, Sallie! Good for you for sticking with it, because the end result is perfect! Great interpretation and fun!

Sallie, I'm with you on that song, all the way! You did a great job with drawing and doodling, and your snow looks fabulous! I love what you came up with~

Sallie, I am with you on my choice of songs for Christmas being more in line with Silent Night. But that being said, this put a huge smile on my face. It is so funny. Such a terrific take on your inspiration.
