On this card I combined this week's Wednesday Tutorial - Faux Patina with this week's Sketch Challenge. I did the Faux Patina technique not too long ago for a challenge and liked the way it looked, so I decided to try it again. Although this card is masculine looking, it is actually for my daughter. She is a freshman in college and a rower, but suffered a season ending back injury the end of January. Her team is preparing for their championship regatta and she is so sad to not be able to participate. I am sending her this card with a gift card to her favorite restaurant so she can treat herself and a friend to a nice dinner while her team is away. Her school colors are red and white, so I used red as my accent color.

This is a gorgeous card for your daughter, we mothers are always thinking of our children, aren't we? I hope this, plus the restaurant voucher, cheer her up and she recovers quickly from her back injury. I loved the faux patina technique, too, and must make another card using this technique!

I love, love, love this. I grew up by the sea so I always love seaside/beach themed cards, and this one is totally gorgeous. Your background is fabulous and I love your rich red colours and the little rope trim. I hope your daughter's back recovers so that she can participate again next season. We often see teams out practising on the river here - there's a short stretch of the river that must have at least a half-dozen rowing clubs along it.
