This week's Teapot Tuesday asked us to bring cupcakes to celebrate the birthday of a deserving friend of a fellow SCSer: MMTPT168 ~ HOCUS POCUS! LET ME FOCUS! COME TO ME MY MAGIC SNAKES! by Mothermark at Splitcoaststampers
This is a chocolate cupcake, with mint icing and a fondant butterfly atop (I think someone has been watching too much Food Network!)
I went yard-sale shopping on Saturday and at a fundraiser for a high school lacrosse team, I got a whole box of goodies for a buck --lace, rick rack, buttons and embroidered appliques. Unopened packs in a variety of colors, really an amazing haul. I used some green lace (that strip is about all of the green, unfortunately) and rickrack from that great buy on this card. I didn't have any pink gingham, but I though the dp had the same sort of feel and would be appropriate for Elsie. Paper-pieced the cupcake cup with coordinating dp.
This also qualifies for WT344, ways to use pink; and CAS140, the cupcake challenge. Sketch is from this week's Card Patterns blog

Oh this is really pretty! Isn't it fun when we find a buy?! I love that cupcake and yes it definitely sounds like you are influenced by the Food Network (my fav show on there is Diners Drive Ins and Dives) I love the rick rac on here and your dp is pretty.

Pink check is just as good as gingham any day in my book. In fact, gingham rather reminds me of my school project, LOL, the only time I ever used it. I rather like the idea of leaves for decorating the cake - although I've never taken to fondant icing, if it's mint it's got to taste ok!!

Love the rick rack and lace... and even more so after reading about your yard sale bargain! The pink plaid DP is gorgeous... the perfect backdrop for that yummy cupcake!

OMGoodness that cupcake looks delicious. I always wanted to ice a cupcake like that with the petals but when you consider how long it takes to decorate versus how long it takes to ice - not worth it!
