Our Daily Bread Designs challenge for this week is to make your own embellishment, (dye your own seam binding, make your own flowers, make your own buttons or stickpins and etc.) on your creation. See all the details Saturday, October 8, 2011 ODBD's Design Blog and use the keyword ODBDSLC79 so we can enjoy your creations too! Make certain you link your card to the blog.
This week I chose a Scripture from a newly released set, Christmas Door. I wanted to show how versatile this set is by using the Scripture for something other than Christmas.
My hand made embellishments are the flowers and stick pin. I am amazed every time I have the chance to watch my sweet friend Tosha (Stamps4funinCa) stamp. Her skills are incredible, and she taught me how to make flowers using a MS punch. (The one I use looks like a small four leaf clover) Each bloom takes two punches, and I sponge yellow in the centers. Scoring to add veins to the petals before placing a zot between the off-set centers, I use a skewer to press them together on a soft surface which forces the petals to come up. Now there is a small well in the center, and I add a dot of Crystal Effects, and cover it with small gold beads. Once dry, the blooms are applied to the card with a hot glue gun, and are surrounded with leaves from the MS Branch Punch and Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish die cut. The embossed panel in the background uses Spellbinders Fleur di lis Rectangles as a frame.
Thanks for looking. This card is special to me because it reminds me of my mom, who loved magnolias. I added the last bit of my favorite lace, because I think she would like that too.

This card is beautiful! Your handmade flowers are soooo pretty and that lace just takes it over the top. I love that you used your Christmas stamp set in another way. The stitching around the card is such a nice touch. I know your mamma is beaming right now. What lovely memories this card represents for you. Thank you for sharing that with us! Hugs!

Holy Wow! This is just gorgeous, Pat...and THANKS SO MUCH for the quickie tutorial on how you made those wonderful flowers! They look just striking on your card and I'm always looking for new ways to add some "floral goodness" to my cards! This will do nicely! Give your sweet Muse a hug for me too...the both of you are so wildly talented...in my mind I picture the two of you sitting at a table, with mad talent and paper swirling around you (like a paper tornado) and then you both hold your cards up, and angels start singing, and you both have these masterpieces in your hands. That's just the way my mind sees it and you won't be able to tell me any different.
Pat this is gorgeous. One of the first things I thought was I wonder who makes those gorgeous flowers! What a wonderful job you have done on here. I like the soft yellows oh here and that lace is another Wow factor. I love the stitching. I keep looking at that sewing machine because of the stitching on it. Then the star of the show is the scripture. Pat I so admire how you Praise Our Lord through your art. Love you!
