Welcome to Raleigh - North Carolina's capital city - the site of today's teapot party! We're having a race, a dog race to be exact, and it's headed by none other than one of my favorite doggies, Brodie Layne! At last count there were about 42,000 dogs entered in the race...
Today we are having tea in honor of my long-time friend, Rachel Layne. We've known each other for more than 45 years. We both worked for NC State Government... back then we were young, thin, had dark hair, and were very mischievous! Well, we're still mischievous!
Brodie is Rachel's dog, a beautiful sheltie and one of the sweetest, gentlest dogs I know. Rachel is well known in the community for her great love of dogs and always has treats for any dog she encounters. Rachel has recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and had to give Brodie to another loving family as she is no longer able to care for him. But Brodie understands and still loves Rachel and that's why he's having this race in her honor. I do hope you'll make a card and send to Rachel as she could use some encouragement. I know of no group who could better accomplish this than Cindy's Teapot Tuesday Tea Partiers! Read about it here http://mothermark.blogspot.com
A regular sized card just wouldn't do today so I ended up with a 9 x 8 1/2 card! I had so much fun making this card for my special friend...

How lucky Rachel is to have a friend like you. I sure hope all the cards cheer her up a bit. This is a miserable disease and she will certainly need to be surrounded by good friends. I shall include her in my prayers. Elizabeth

9 x 8 1/2???? I do believe this is the largest greeting card ever and such a pretty one, too! I love your sweet Tilda surrounded by all the pretty smelling flowers and adorable pooches. Such a sweet scene you've created for Rachel; I'm sure she'll treasure it as she does your friendship.

I'm delighted to send my card along to Rachel! I hope it makes her laugh since mine is really wild! You are a good friend to organize this little pick-me-up for her. I love your card and I know Rachel will too!
