When I saw Wendy's challenge this morning, my first thought was Roosevelt and teddy bears.
But while I was waiting for the bus, I started to wonder could I also fit in my great grandfather, who was the first Irish President. So that brought me to JFK, who was, according to Wikipedia, the first Irish-American president. In County Wexford we have the JFK Arboretum, dedicated to his memory. And my great-grandfather's pen name (he was very involved in the renewal of Irish literature and Irish as a spoken language) was An Craobhinn Aoibhinn or the Pleasant Branch.
So I made a card with a tree, and the background paper is a page scanned from the book you see in the photo, Love Songs of Connacht.
A2 base, edges sponged with Vintage Photo.
Then a scanned page from the book, edges distressed and sponged with Antique Linen.
Image is Penny Black, Teddy and Friends, stamped on vellum with StazOn Brown and coloured with pencil. I tore it to size, sponged the edges with Vintage Photo and attached it with brads. Added a PTI button and some twine at the top, with a little piercing inside the twine.

Sabrina, what an absolutely lovely card. What an inspired choice to scan vintage Irish text as your background. Your tree image looks fantastic on vellum. I really enjoyed reading about your card's presidential connection--super job on this!!

What wonderful Irish history, Sabrina. To know you come from such an historically important person is pretty darn impressive. I love your book and how you scanned some pages to come up with this amazing card. Just wonderful.
