Thanks, Roxie, for this challenge. I was ready to make a card for our son and family - DGD is of Chinese origin. This year I am kind of combining it with a Valentine. I had these great envelopes we bought in China - they are small, so the card is small. (You can see most of the envelope at the right.)
I did not realize how bright the gold is until I started to put things together - I smudged some black ink to tone it down a bit.

WOW! Your card is so shiny and pretty. Goes with that gorgeous envelope quite well. Awesome job. TFS :0)

This is so lovely! YOUR IDEA IS BRILLIANT!
I have spent tons of money and time looking for patterned red or gold paper to make "Chinese envelopes". I got addicted to "things Chinese" when I visited family temporarily living in Singapore. We caught the Chinese New Year's Bug and celebrate that one too *grin*. It also gives procrastinators a chance to think up New Year's resolutions a bit later...
It's the year of the Rabbit this year and starts Feb. 3rd.
YOUR IDEA is just what I have been looking for - importing those evelopes or using other DPs often goes beyond my budget - The European Damask looks so Oriental in this combination. Thanks to Cuttlebug and You, this years cards will be really special.
Your sharing is much appreciated!
