This weeks word is:
fire-cured: cured over open fires in direct contact with the smoke
My first thought was to make a card using the soot technique. That ended up in a disaster on my desk. My husband was giving me really strange looks like he thought I had finally lost it, or that I was going to burn the office down. I'm not sure which. So I went with burning the edges of my vertical panel. I burned the edges and then brayered leaves onto the panel. I then added chalk around the leaves to make them pop. I made 2 more leaf prints for the small panels. I then did a faux burned technique around my big brown panel. I tore the edges and used black and brown chalk to rub on the exposed edges. I found it hard to see a difference between the real burned edges and the faux.

Oh this is GORGEOUS and very authentically fire-cured! Triple bonus points for attempting the soot technique and for sacrificing yourself and your marriage just for my little ole challenge...LOVE the way the leaves look on this!
