This is my Granddaughter, Jayden, who will be 7 next month! She loves all kinds of crafts! I've given her some old stamps and inks, and she's made marble magnets and simple construction paper cards, but that wasn't enought. She says she wants to "make real cards like Gramma, using Gramma's stuff"!! She was looking thru my cards and decided she wanted to make one like my first tole card (you can see it here)
After stamping the flower 4 times and finding out she had to color and cut all those flowers, she decided she just wanted it popped up once! lol Of course, the paper hoarder that I am, couldn't stand to cut into my "good" paper, so we went thru my DP scraps and this is what she picked out. Then she picked orange and pink from the Crayola colored pencils. Now I'm thinking... "Wow... nice color matching", then when picking thru the ribbon scraps, she went right over the Guava and River Rock and went straight for this pink and green (that doesn't match)!! lol I had to bite my lip and remember it was HER creation, not mine and I needed to let her pick and choose her own colors, papers and embellishments! I thought she was done with it when she carefully put on the sticky pink gem flowers... I was wrong. I went to throw in a couple loads of laundry and when I came back, she already had the Dew Drops and Stickles on! lol Gotta have glitter!! I think she did pretty good for a 6 year old!! ! LOL
The only things I helped her with:
~ I already had the card base
~ I didn't have a piece of Guava big enough to mat the whole image, so we did a partial mat and I suggested a fancy edge... she picked out the decorative scissors and I cut.
~ I measured the DP and held it on the cutter while she ran the blade.
She was really excited! Decorated the inside and an envelope, THEN made a Jumbo paperclip photo/note holder! I have a feeling she might be addicted too! lol
