Hi! This card was made for today's Limited Sketch Challenge: Oldies But Goodies...
I have no clue how in the world Speedy the Cat KNEW that I would be needing this tree stamp today. He put it in the bathroom sink! It is one of the first Treehouse Stamps I owned, and I seem to use it only for Sympathy cards.
Last night, Tropical Storm Fay really tore up my neighborhood. The power was out until this morning. And, there is debris, everywhere, including a big branch of our old oak on my camper...The van took a big hit, too...The neighbor's patio furniture ended up on the hood!
But, that wasn't the worst of it...Our neighbor's dog was under the furniture,on the hood of my van. Sadly, he had been gone for quite a while. I went to my neighbor, who was crying, and told him I found his beloved friend, and we buried him right beside my wonderful dog, Bear, in my garden.(We lost Bear 3 years ago...) They had been best friends for many years, it just seemed the right thing to do.
The dp is VERY old...At least 6 years...I dug it out of my bedroom closet.
The tree was stamped in Basic Black and colored in with SU! Pure Color Pencils. I used Odorless mineral spirits to blend the colors.
The ribbon was from a gift from my neighbor's "dog" to Bear...I just thought it was appropriate this morning....

Oh, how terribly sad!! Sounds like ya'll are catching a lot worse effects from this storm than we are down here between G'ville and Ocala! We are getting gobs of rain and some wind, but nothing like what you described! My deepest sympathy to your neighbor for the loss of his beloved pet. He is fortunate to have a wonderful neighbor like you to help him through his grief!
Love the card you made for him...awesome coloring and the tree is so perfect for a sympathy card!! Great job!!

Aww, I'm so sorry to hear the sad news in your neighborhood. Losing a pet is never easy, I'm all too familiar with that. I'm sure this thoughtful card will help ease the pain of your neighbor's loss, and together you can put the pieces of your lives back together. Best wishes to all of you who suffered in the latest storms.

I'm so sorry to hear of the mess Fay has left you, though I am glad that you and your family are safe. I know that many of us here online were thinking of you! This is a lovely sympathy card.
So sorry about your night. Your neighbor is lucky to have someone like you to get through her loss. Know that we so far away are thinking of you and pray this ends soon.

This card is so gorgeous! I love the warm fall colors and the beautiful tree! I am so sorry about your neighbor's dog. That is so sad. I am glad you are all otherwise OK after the big storm other than the mess.
