Hi! This card was made for today's Technique Lovers Challenge: Cut It Out. The challenge was to cut out borders from embossed papers, or from designer papers to form a border.
Speedy the Cat was helping me sort through some of my "bows gone bad" the yesterday, and he presented me with this ribbon. I placed it on my desk, determined to use it today. When I saw today's challenge I thought about the ribbon and the rest just came together.
To create the CUT IT OUT border, I ran a piece of Memory Box designer paper through the Vine Cuttlebug folder. I rubbed an Always Artichoke pad over the raised areas to color the vine. Next, I cut out the stems and leaves to the RIGHT of the main limb. This gave a distinct border. To finish, I used foam tape to adhere the Vine to the background.
The image was stamped 4 times onto watercolor paper. I outlined each petal, on each of the 4 flowers, with an Apricot Appeal marker and then used an aqua painter to blend. Next, I cut out all 4 flowers and layered them with foam tape. I added a Tigers Eye for the center.
The white background is Gourd Guts Paper. My friend makes this by scooping out the insides of gourds. She blends it with Linen and water. Next, she spreads the goop onto screens to dry. This creates a grayish paper. I took several sheets home a few months ago and sprayed them with household bleach and WOW!
