Chris is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has given us such a beautiful combo: Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo and Coastal Cabana. The dessert option is "stitches."
I made this card first, then realized No Dessert! Horrors! (So I made another one.) I wanted to try out the new goodies from my Hero Arts kit of the month, mainly the stencils that are designed to layer and rotate. I used Distress Oxide inks in colors close to the challenge colors for my background. It was made with one stencil rotated once, two colors; then a second stencil with the Coastal Cabana color on top. I liked the result very much, but it was a little busy. I decided to cover most of it with a lacy-edge die to frame my three butterflies.
I used, for the first and last time, the Tim Holtz Specialty Stamping Paper for the butterflies. Enough Said!
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!

I like the stenciled background on this card Barbara. The challenge colors look great. The die you used for the butterfly images is so pretty- another great card.

Wow Barbara I would have never guessed you created your own background paper! Stencils are perfect for creating a special dsp in the color you need or want! Your retro butterflies are delightful on the white background! TFS

Those stylized butterflies are wonderful against the plaid!

First of all, thanks for the heads up on the specialty stamping paper -- good to know. Second of all...LOVE your card, Barbara. I think my favorite part is the stenciled background. I've seen examples on social media, but they're not as pretty as yours!

This is so pretty. I had emailed Ranger about this paper and here is what they told me:
"Distress Specialty Stamping Paper is coated and Oxide Ink will just lay on the surface and not dry (even with a Heat Tool)."
(If that is what you were meaning in your write up.)
