For Ky's Let's Play Favourites MIXed media challenge. I have loads of mediums (acrylic paint, dox, acrylic sprays, luster rub-ons, Nuvo Drops....) and I was inspired by her favourite artist - the bright, bold colours in THESE tags.
But dealing with an unwanted Windows update which left me with a VGA screen resolution wasn't conducive to feeling very creative. I wasn't ignoring the "your favourite technique" part of the challenge...but what inspired me was the use of gel prints. I don't have a gel plate, so I tried the monoprinting technique tutorial using a sheet of glass. No go...but I wasn't going to waste it, so this deep blue panel is one of my fails. I stencil monoprinted it with TCW Art Deco leaves using cracked pistachio. And I stamped a text stamp (HA) in Versafine Smokey Grey. Then I stamped the peacock swirl, and added some white gel pen detailing to it. Stamped JOY (also inspired by the art Ky shared, use of tex) in black and several times in white. Added chunky gold EP and cut my tag down to size, edging it with a nearly dead Krylon pen.
The poinsettia has been on the floor for months - it's Verve, stamped and embossed in gold on a dictionary page and coloured with ??. The leaves are die-cut from a scrap from my background box, embossed with a textile ef and sponged with luster rub-ons, then edged with black. I added some silver washi tape and a gem brad, and a little wooden bird. The black JOY is gone over with Nuvo translucent jewel drops.
Background layer - white card embossed with the same ef. Buffed with luster rub-ons from Craft-T. Still meh...stencilled with a TCW basketweave stencil and white paint. Better but still meh. Spritzed with some Brusho acrylic sprays and now it's looking better. I did use a TH mask in the red area, but it got covered up. Stamped Gorgeous Grunge over it in black, matted it on gold and added it to the base.
The tag and the poinsettia are both popped up on foam. The border of the tag still needs a little more something, maybe outlining in gold Stickles. I need a new leafing pen!

Bravo! You persevered and won! My process always includes many stages of "meh" and where the heck is this going besides the can? I love that you admit something's been on the floor for months. Suddenly, I don't feel so alone. Love your work, Sabrina! Thanks for playing!
