This is for Jeannie's mixed media challenge - use a mister. LOL I actually forgot to use my mister as I used ironing spray instead, however I have it on good authority that Mermaids call ironing spray starch - mist and they call spray cans, misters....and who is going to argue with a Mermaid.
Ironing spray starch, aka mist, is much easier to work with than water in a mister - it's not as 'wet' as water and it doesn't dilute the colour of what ever medium you are using.
This background is Brusho's, ironing spray mist and cling wrap. The cling wrap is squished on to the sprayed cardstock and allowed to air dry for a while. I was too impatient to let it fully dry so I hit it with a heat gun.
The image is a digi image by Aurora Wings, printed on copy paper and coloured with Prismacolour pencils and the dark bits are Prisma watercolour pencils, without using water as it would buckle on copy paper.
I used a scalpel to ever so gently cut into the Brusho card base, just enough to peel back the very top layer, so I could stick the Mermaid on and make it look like she is popping out of the water.
Thank you for looking and I wish you a happy weekend.

Wow! I agree on the spray starch - and I like the smell too . That background is absolutely perfect for your amazing mermaid fairy. I love the way you cut into the base and the extra dimension that added.

Wow! A stunner, Susie Q. I love your image and I love Brushos because they are such vibrant colors. Great job with the cling wrap. BTW, I'm not arguing with a mermaid. Ha You can bet this is going into my faves.

This is an exquisite card. I love your background. I have to remember to use spray starch instead of water. Thanks to the mermaid! LOL

Gorgeous! Gorgeous! GORGEOUS! I love your bg and the colors you used on your Mermaid! I always love your swooshes of mixed colors that you use to add magic to the gowns you've done and in this case your Mermaid's adornment. Also, having her pop out of the sea...Genius!
Great save with the spray starch! And you ARE correct! It IS a misting item. There is no law saying a mist must consist of water in total. After all, there is perfume mist also. Again, a perfectly acceptable mist. And smog mist, but never mind about that. And really, like you said, nobody I know of is ever going to argue with a Mermaid.
