I wonder if there are kids still sitting in desks like that today. I remember thinking they were so neat when I had them in my classroom in the eighties and nineties. With the hole for the ink well at the top. It was like being part of history.

Great image, it reminds me of the illustrations in the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. I do remember desks a bit like that here, though I've never seen any where the surface for the person behind was part of the seat for the person in front. And oh my, that twine bow!!!!!! It's amazing.
