For this week's Hans Christian Andersen wtui challenge, using this week's colors and sketch.
This card is placed on one of my personal treasures. I don't remember when I received this collection of Andersen's fairy tales. I know it has some very immature crayon scribbles in it, and I figure I must have been the budding artist who was responsible for them. I wonder if my sisters read them to me?
I know I read them as a young adult, and was surprised at the brutality included in some of them. Oddly, my favorite was "The Red Shoes," which is very unlike the movie, and definitely a morality tale about coveting...
Anyway, I chose the "Elder-Tree Mother" tale for this card. Tender. Andersen's retelling of an old Danish folk tale about the elderflower woman is a bit sanitized and turned into a lesson about treasuring memories. Here's a link to the story:

What a fantastic card depicting The Little Elder-Tree Mother fairy tale, Brenda! The teapot is gorgeous, and I love the foliage with the blossoms. You certainly did a fantastic job of combining the challenges, Brenda!!

What a wonderful depiction of a specific fairy tale! Love your pretty teapot and the cluster of flowers.
Thanks for the link - it was fun to read the story. I love elderflower - in England they make a cordial and a sparkling summer drink out of it - it's delicious. We can get it in some specialty stores here in Canada.

Many flowers and plants are medicinal but for what medication...well that would take more research on google. I love the story and love your stunning teapot and vines and leaves. I have some older books from my childhood that have scribbles in them too, I guess at that age I did not know those were not coloring books. Super stunning card you have created to represent the Elder Flower Tea.

Such a lovely card rich in detail...I love the blossoms and the delicate teapot. What benefit younger generations would have if they got their learning from real books!
