I am playing along with Bridget's (bfinlay) HYCCT1408 sweet challenge to create a card inspired by a hero.
In this phase of my life my heroes are the people that are giving of themselves to my teens. Our Pastor's wife coordinates youth events like retreats, a mid week small group, and a monthly youth group evening. Our teens are learning to serve others, grow in faith and have their spirits refreshed on a weekly basis. I am so thankful to those that sacrifice their time and sometimes even their sleep to help our teens become wise young adults.
This Phyllis Harris image came to mind when I was thinking on who my heroes are. They encourage all the students to "reach for the stars"!!
Thank you Bridget, for this great challenge that encouraged me to stop and ponder who is a hero to me!

How precious, Angie! It's so important who our teens are patterning their lives after. It's also not easy being a youth leader with all its responsibilities, but my hats are off to those who counsel them. Sweet card to honor your heroes!

Beautifully watercolored and a great group to honor. I'm so thankful for all who speak truth and wisdom into my kids' lives at a point when all too often they don't want to hear it from me.

Angie, this would have caught my eye in the gallery anyway, as I LOVE Phyllis Harris images (don't own any yet, they are top of my wish list!) - it's just so beautifully colored in jewel tones and the way you've added the great sentiment with a clip is fabulous too. And of course, you know I love black framing against crisp white!!! Nothing means more than the growth and development of our children, so I completely understand how you value the youth leaders who are investing in them - thanks for sharing in this challenge, Angie!

Angie, they truly are heroes who help our children grow in wisdom and the knowledge of the Lord alongside us. We are past that phase now, but I remember those who spent that valuable, cherished time with my teens. God bless them all. Your image is so whimsically adorable. Hope those teens reach some stars of their own

Angie, I love this! The Phyllis Harris images are so recognizable. It's just perfect to honor those adults who give of themselves to help young adults grow in a positive way. I just love the textural feel of your watercoloring. Amazing.

What a wonderful card, Angela. Those who teach teens to become responsible adults and grow in faith should be well rewarded. Great post you left us with today.
