Kathleen (Lammie) gave me the heads up that this week's teaparty involved one of my "homies" (a fellow Minnesotan) so naturally I had to play. I think she also knew that I have a loon stamp..I mean it is our state bird after all..why wouldn't I?
I have actually been to the area where Peggy lives..disclaimer: I have not stepped foot in Hibbing but I've been to surrounding towns..Duluth, Virginia, Ely, Biwabik. Northern MN is a beautiful area. And while Marie gave an entertaining account of Lake Wobegon she forgot to mention one of Hibbing's most famous hometown boys..Bobby Zimmerman!! For those of you saying,,huh?? that's Bob Dylan!! Also calling Hibbing home..many NHL hockey players, Kevin McHale of the Timberwolves and Boston Celtics, and really ancient folks like me might remember Gary Puckett (you know Gary and his Union Gap). Oh well enough about all that...I hope that we're able to cheer up Peggy by sending these awesome cards..now I need to go check out the gallery.

Perfection, Polly! How lucky that you have the right stamps for this challenge! This card is beautiful! It's like a vacation to Minnesota, or even an advertisement to go see the beautiful state! I see lots of cookies coming your way!

Welcome to the tea party Pol! You showed up with a fabulous card!!! I LOVE the Loon stamp stamp (lol) and your background is wonderful with the embossing! Really cool how you made your scene in the lovely die cut and then have the fellows fishing a little farther out! Love it and and I am sure Peggy will too!!!

I think loons are wonderful....their songs can be heard for miles!! Great job from one Minnesotan to another, Polly.

Oh WOW!! girl..You realy knocked this one right out of the ball park or should I say water...One super card...I absolutely love it. And i know Peggy will too.Absolutely gorgeous...
I loved your story too..It was fun reading it and how much you knew..I was born and raised in Hibbing..lived here all my life except for ten yrs..
US Steal built a mine in Lander Wyo, and my father was already retired after 30 some yrs. of working for US Steal..So he went back to work and family moved to Lander...I lived there for 10 yrs. but missed Mn lakes, so I came back..
Was nice meeting another person from Minnesota...Thank You sooo much for making this card for Peggy..I know she will treasure it...

The things that I learn from Teapotters!! Thank you for the cultural links to fill in my Minnesota knowledge gap - who knew? (well except the hockey player part!) I love Northern MN - we've been to Voyageurs a couple of times and I did a drive around the Great Lakes with my older guys 20 or so years ago. And I have twins - something that I know all Minnesotans love (giggle!).
The story line was obviously inspired by another famous Minnesotan. I love Garrison Keillor's radio variety show A Prairie Home Companion, and if you aren't familiar with him, Lake Wobegone is the setting of one of his weekly sketches.
Now about your card - it is so cool that you have a loon stamp stamp! Your rustic cabin and embossed BG make me pine for a couple of weeks in the woods (and on the lake like your boat men!) I'm sure that Peggy will be absolutely delighted with your wonderful card. Thanks so much for coming to her Teaparty - make sure to eat a barn or two! Hugz from NJ.
PS - Mr Zimmerman and I share a birthday, arguably the coolest day of the year!!

Fantastic card Polly, everything about it is wonderful. Your colouring is incredible, you make each piece look like a mini work of art. Love your history lesson too...I am ancient and love Gary Puckett and the union gap. Thanks for the memories Polly LOL.

You coloured the stamp so well that as I was looking at your card my thought was, "WOW look at that she actually had a postage stamp with the perfect theme". Then I discovered you had stamped it. This is such a great card.
