An elderly couple who live two houses down the street from us have been our neighbors ever since we moved here 21 years ago - they don't have any family and have been surrogate grandparents to my two sons, which means a lot since my dear Mom and Dad live so far away in the U.S. We treat them like they're our own parents, and recently the health of this couple has really been going downhill, especially for the husband who has diabetes, and it's involved lots of trips to the hospital. Lila is so worried about her DH. This card definitely reflects her character - with the poppies and the doily, it fits her perfectly - old fashioned and traditional, she loves flowers, and bright colors. I'm sure she'll love this card. What a great challenge, Wendy!
I cut a black circle to go behind the doily for more definition and used a Sweet and Sassy Stamps set called Poppies and Greetings - I love it, not only for the pretty poppies, but all the fabulous sentiments it includes for lots of occasions!

What a beautiful card -- I'm sure it will brighten your neighbor's day! The embossed background and the doily are the perfect things to surround the beautiful poppies you colored.

That's awesome, Bridget, for your family to "adopt" these precious neighbors, especially since they have no other family! Your poppy card is just beautiful, and that sweet bow with the button really sets them off! Adding the doily with the black beneath it and the ef make this card so feminine and special!

Bridget, this is so beautiful and it will bring a smile to Lila's face. I just love the colors and the old fashioned feel that the doily adds. Another wonderful creation.
