I acquired DHÂ’s LP collection some time before I acquired DH. One of my favourite albums of his was Dan FogelbergÂ’s The Innocent Age, so ever since I heard we were off to Kentucky, has been playing in my head.
What fun – we are off to the Derby for the teaparty this week. We have to bring something we can ride, to give that new jockey on the block, Tony McTea, a ride for his money. (Check out the Teapot Tuesday challenge for the full story.)
Now, the only horse stamp I have certainly is not going to win any races – he might just manage a trot. And that’s only might… the chances are 42,000 to 1 that he wouldn't even manage a trot.
However...Ande says mooses are pretty good at racing. At least, Kinguyakki Salakstarok the Third is a champion racer. Imagine racing over the ice and jumping the cracks. You can see Ande and King posing here after winning a local race…And if anyone else – take note, Tony – gets too close, those antlers are not to be tangled with. No saddle, you say? Well, any of the (very) few times I have ridden I have never had a saddle, and I’ve never fallen off. So if Ande likes riding without a saddle, I am not going to argue with him over it. Health and safety can go hang.
5 ¾” base. Sky and foreground are Clairefontaine Papers of the World. The mountains are Core’dinations Whitewash, embossed with D’vine Swirl, sanded and stitched to the base. I also stitched along the foreground. The frame is scraps of American Traditional Designs wood effect paper. Ande and King were stamped on watercolour paper, coloured with H2Os and cut out.
I had so much fun making this, itÂ’s the happiest IÂ’ve felt with a finished card for quite a while.
In keeping with the Greenland cold climate, Ande is bringing along some pineapple sorbet to share round; I tried out a delicious recipe last night, so you're lucky there was some left for him to bring along.

Thanks for the music link. Your scene is sewed so well. By the look of your moose, he is raring to go. Bet he's fast too. Your Eskimo fellow looks so.....eskimo like. Very fun card. TFS :0)

Oh so cute. I really like those stitched mountains - great paper for the CB. But, I hate to tell you, that jockey's outfit might impede his racing ability...

Kinguyakki Salakstarok? Pineapple sorbet? Count me in, and set me a table right next to you Sabrina! I love your chilly and happy scene. Your sewing and papers are delish!

Hey, I'm talking to Jules.....seems to me there might be sumthin' in the rule book about antlers, horns, them thingys stickin' outa his head! And if there isn't, no worries, those thingys are gonna get stuck in the gate and will seal his fate! Snort! I am winning this race for my man Tony, he needs this victory to prove his worth to that short stack of jockey's that beat him up!
Besides, doesn't K.S. (I can't talk that language!) and his moose have some birthday partying to do tommorrow??? Hate to tell you but I saw them in the stables practicing eating birthday cake, their bellies are draggin! Snort!
Thanks Sabrina, your card is precious, usable, and the epitome of a race horse and jockey card! Woot! I gotta go listen to that song that you and Marilynn conspired against me with ! Hee!
