My second set of cards for the 2010 Christmas card challenge that you can find here if you would like to check it out and join in and save yourself the mad rush at the end of the year.
My goal is to fill a flat rate box to send to a deployed unit; we canÂ’t do enough for people/soldiers that put their lives on the line to keep us safe!
I purchased two pieces of designer paper (both the same pattern) and got sixteen cards put together. I put the paperÂ’s images to work for me in creating the main panel and when I got down to no pattern on the paper's center area I created my own and thatÂ’s the top right card. Then at the very end I had enough odd pieces to but into strips and make a couple patchwork designs using pretty much the same stamping techniques as the top right card.
-Top Right card: I inked up the snowflake image first in clear VersaMark then with the purple and stamped, poured on the clear glittered powder and heat embossed.
-The smaller snowflakes were inked up and stamped with just VersaMark and heat embossed with the same clear glittered powder.
-The white flourish was stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with a white glittered powder.
-The left portrait layout was dry embossed with the Nestabilites and then stamped with the sentiment.
-Each card was embellished with snowflakes and stars that were either punched or die cut from DCWV glitter paper. I attached the stars and smaller flakes to the snowflakes with Diamond Glaze because of the shiny surface and the then used AleeneÂ’s tacky glue to attach to the card.
I am very happy with the DCWV glitter paper because it doesn’t shed glitter which can be dangerous for the soldiers due to it making them visible at night. I found this paper at both Archiver’s in 8.5 x 11” and The Flower Factory in 12 x 12” (this was the best price).
Tools:
Cuttlebug and die cut Snowflakes #2
Martha Stewart and Marvy snowflake punches
Nestabilities

Roxie these are gorgeous! I can't stop staring at them! (How do I get on YOUR C'mas card list?) the colors are my favs, the layouts work beautifully, the embellies are wonderful too! And how sensitive of you to be careful about the glitter you use for soldiers! Fabulous! TFS!
