When I saw this month's CTO715 challenge titled "hit the road" I imidately thought of Alice's trip down the rabbit hole... I don't know why I didn't think of someplace like Hawaii, but I came up with a bright, funky fall down the rabbit hole. The TLC543 was more straight forward, to use one of the resist techniques. I heat embossed some Tim Holtz and Inkadinkado flowers and leaves in white. Then I added water color paint. For all the water color things I have made -there aren't a lot in my gallery because watercolor doesn't work well for me- I have been using this super old, 8 color, 99 cent container that I got for my sons when they were little. I am just about out of paint now. At this early, very consertive stage, my husband liked it and asked if I would not give it away. Since I was going to keep it, I decided to make it into a canvas instead of a card. I added some rock salt to the wet paint, and shaded the flowers with grey copics. It still would have been relatively normal if I had stopped then, but of course, that didn't happen. I sponged some distress inks onto a white canvas and then stamped an abstract checkered shape stamp. I stamped it several timed to get different shades of black. As long as I had already veered off the normal path, I tore a few pieces off the mornimg newspaper and glued them down. I have a few canvases that I alternate on the fireplace mantel. If this one is too weird when DH sees it, I can always bring it to work. TFL, Francie

I would love nothing better than to sit and watch you play with color! WOW again, Francie! Working with bright colors has been difficult for me but you mastered it, making all your cards a feast for the eyes! This is gorgeous!
