We received some very sad news earlier this week ... the father of one of our friends passed away after a long illness. I have needed to make a sympathy card all week ... but haven't had the time to do any stamping. I just had a few minutes to make a card this afternoon ... here is what I created.
The base of the card is Chocolate Chip. On Bordering Blue cardstock I stamped the Linen background using Bordering Blue ink. Lace Flower (Penny Black) is stamped using Chocolate Chip ink. I sponged white craft ink along all the edges of the blue to soften it ... and so it would complement the vellum. The vellum is attached to the blue using Making Memories brads. Sentiment (Stampabilities) stamped in Stazon Timber Brown ink. Blue portion of card is adhered to brown card base using dimensionals.
This is a very simple card ... but it is going to a man ... so I didn't want it too frilly or fancy.
I *love* the verse on the card ... Matthew 11:28: "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
Life is so short ... hug your family ... tell them you LOVE them ... make EVERY day count!

WOW - this is gorgeous -- so sorry about your friend -- the card is perfect -- I love the verse itself, but I also love the design of that stamp -- so lovely -- I also love how you edged the blue with white craft -- gorgeous effect -- I need to do a sympathy for a man tonigtht -- I just might CASE this. TFS.

Very beautiful card!! I'm so touched. I love all the little details on your card especially the sentiment. I'm so sorry about your loss. It's been a rough week. I lost a good friend to a long battle with cancer on Monday. I'm sure the recipient of this card will appreciate it very much! TFS
