Layout for scrapbooking sketch challenge. I had to turn one photo. I added pullout journalling strips under both series of photos across the bottom. They read "Tracer decided to come early and there was no holding him back! My due date for him was August 30th and I had already scheduled a Cesarean for one week early. We had just finished a week of VBS, a shower at the church and a trip to Roy for Matt’s birthday. We were back in Billings and I was sorting a Pampered Chef order and planning an early dinner because Matt had a baseball game that night. Well, my water broke and that hadn’t happened before, so I spent the day sorting that Pampered Chef order and thinking “hmmm”. When Brian came home, I mentioned to him that my water had possibly broke and that I was going to go in and get it checked. We had dinner and the kids and Brian went to the ball game while I drove separately to the hospital. Long story short, it had broken and I was admitted and the phone call flurry began! Matt and Lindsey stayed at the ball game with friends, Stacy Lind and Cindy Leenknecht, while Brian came to the hospital. Our boy was born at 10:00 pm on Thursday, July 31, 2003, one month early. He spent the night under the oxygen hood in NICU, but there were no other concerns about his lung development. We had loads of company over the next few days in the hospital room and had very few minutes to discuss a name – but consensus was Jason Tyler. On the third day in the hospital, it was time to be discharged and to fill out all the paperwork. We chose Trace Joseph and can’t imagine Tracer being anyone else - although throughout the entire pregnancy Brian and the kids called him “Freddy.”
How lucky I am! I am blessed with a great number of very dear friends and they just watch out for me Not only did we have many offers of help when Trace was born – for child care and house cleaning and errand running (I had to decline all of these!) – we also were blessed with many meals and treats that were delivered to our house! Lisa made sure we had dinner for at least two weeks! The week before Trace was born, Julie Amundson and Kathy Lallum organized a baby shower for me at the church. Several of my good friends from Atonement were there and we had a lot of fun. Lisa had scheduled a baby shower for me for the second week of August – we had planned to have it before the baby was born. Well, Trace decided to be at his own shower. We played games and had quiche and desert and I was literally showered with gifts – the best one being a little red bicycle from Papa and Grandma and Brian’s sisters. So sweet!"
