Finally! I had the chance to do one of the challenges. Of course, I just had to start with the sketch... ;)
I received this stamp set in the mail yesterday from my upline, who sent me this as a prize for the scrapbooking challenge contest she had done in May. (Isn't this great?!) Along with the stamp set in the package, I also found this great Convention bag filled with goodies that she has done for us. She's included the name and logo of our team on the bag, as well as a big flower pin to represent our team. Isn't this great? She's the best upline, and I love her to bits!
Anyway, back to the design, I used my beloved Crew Kids Boy SS kit and dusted off my oval Coluzzle. I don't know why I don't use it more - ovals look great on cards.
I stamped the ship with StazOn on watercolor paper and watercolored it with my Aquapainter and some ink. I added a bit or grey to give the white space some dimensions, and then punched out some tabs with the Word Window punch to put on each side and give it a medallion look.
The "Adventure" sticker from the SS kit seemed appropriate for this image, so that's what I added as a sentiment on the bottom, over the rickrack. I stamped a row of anchors on the patterned paper and I was good to go!
Note: I know I won't probably be using the sentiments a lot since they're in English, so I cut out the anchor separately from the sentiment and mounted it on one of the small wooden blocks. I then put the two sentiments together on one of the bigger blocks. (One on the bottom, one on the side.) I think I'll get more use out of it this way.
