Sooooooo...have to tell a short story. Today's crafting was pretty much a nightmare. It started with last night, actually. Everything I made looked like it was executed very messily. Then when I woke up this morning, I decided I wanted to do the MFT sketch challenge over at SCS. But when I saw what the challenge was, I sunk a little. It was a fine enough sketch, of course, but you see... it had this big ole' oval as the focal piece of the card. I still don't own any Nestabilities, and I knew anything I hand-cut would just look sloppy. So I went looking...
Well I was really excited when I immediately found an oval paper coaster from a steak house that I had stolen and kept. So I quickly got to work. I made the background on the oval by stamping a SU stamp repeatedly. Why, oh why did I not just use a DP? The coloring took forevah (do I sound like a bella girl?), and by the time I got done with that I was just frustrated. I tried like 100 different embellishments over the oval and couldn't find anything that wouldn't cover up all the coloring and still look cool. Finally, I decided to just get out my dry embossing stuff. Lasting Impressions to the rescue, once again
So I get the oval done and start assembling the card (this is after at least an hour or hour and a half of working on the darn thing, mind you), and I almost threw up. I didn't even consider that the oval was MUCH too large when I started the card. So I did what I could, but the ending card is like 7x7!!!! Enormous. Oh well. You live, you learn Anyhow, here it is... It weighs like 50 lbs, too. Not really, but you know what I mean...One of those cards that won't stand upright no matter what you do.
Just thought I'd share. People always make their creations look so easy. And sometimes they are. But sometimes I think we all struggle with days like this
It's Christmas in July all month long over at my blog: http://www.kathy-prettyinink.blogspot.com . I'm doing exclusively Christmas projects all month. Be sure to stop by and check it out!

Kathy I'm so sorry my sketch gave you fits. It really turned out awesome after all the trouble it gave you. Please in the furture when you are doing one of my sketches, if an oval doesn't suit, use a retangle or sqaure. The sketch is to inspire you, and in the end you turned out a fab card.
I love the tree and those buttons up the side. Thanks so much for playing along with my sketch.
